Oliver Sheppard and The Commemoration of 1916 Presented by Cork Decorative & Fine Arts Society (Cork DFAS), this illustrated talk by Tom Dunne, Emeritus Professor UCC, will look at works by Oliver Sheppard that made him the sculptor of the revolutionary generation, and in particular his “Death of Cuchulainn”, chosen by De Valera to be the most appropriate symbol to commemorate the 1916 Rising.
